Hi Outdoor Folks!
March is still a winter month here in Maine! The sap is running in the maple trees, the first robins, ducks, geese and woodcocks are back and the water in the creeks, rivers and streams is running fast and high. We just got a new 7 inches of snow yesterday. The ground is all covered with this poor man’s fertilizer! The first downriver canoe race on the St. George River is this Saturday the 29th. It will be Summer before we know it. This year the State of Maine has added a new 5.5% sales tax which we must add onto any of our rentals of canoes, kayaks, tubes and coolers. Hope you can visit us this season!

Hi Paddlers!
Well this summer has been a hot one so far with plenty of water from a number of heavy thunderstorms keeping the small streams and creeks running well past the normal dates they can be paddled. We had a lot of damage to our campground road from last December’s heavy rain and high wind storm. The upper culvert at the top of the campground was plugged up with logs, branches and leaves which diverted the entire creek down the campground road all the way to the bottom of the hill! It took 12 large dump truck loads of gravel and a week of my time with the tractor to repair it. The water in the Kennebec has warmed up nicely, it was 77 degrees today at the take out for our tubing trips! Hope you can join us for a fun day tubing the Kennebec!

Hi Adventure Lovers!
Well summer is nearly here and hopefully Covid cases will settle down but it looks like high fuel and food prices will be the norm for awhile. We have kept most of our prices the same as last year, with only a few slight increases here and there. I will not be offering any overnight canoe trips this summer due to the rapidly increasing costs of food and fuel. (the vans only get 13mpg!) Maybe in the fall if things settle down a bit. I will be opening up the campground by early June and Tammy will be done teaching school for the summer by June 15th and join me at our Caratunk office. We should start offering the tube rentals the following week on June 23rd. We have many new tubes added to the fleet of various sizes. Hope you and your friends and family can visit us this summer for a fun afternoon on the Kennebec!

Hi Paddlers!
What a strange season this has been! The Covid19 pandemic has definitely upset our plans for this season. We had eliminated all of our guided trips this summer and just offered our tube rentals to hopefully pay the bills. Thanks to all of you who booked a tubing trip with us this summer! The tubing was very popular with well over 600 guests visiting us since the first of July! Lots and lots of cleaning and sanitizing to keep everyone safe. Tammy and I have stayed healthy this summer and Tammy is now back at her “real” job as a teacher with SAD #3. It looks like it will be a challenging year for our teachers! Our last day for the tube rentals will be this Sunday (August 23rd). We are fully booked! The Kennebec is starting to cool down, the water temperature at the take out yesterday was only 71 degrees. Maybe I’ll offer a few guided canoe or kayak trips in September or October, but I haven’t decided yet. Thanks for checking out our website and please stay safe out there, it’s a different world then it was a few months ago. Maybe we can get together for a paddle next season!

Hi Paddlers!
It’s time to dust off the tubes, canoes and kayaks for the upcoming season! I am updating things here on the web site so check back often for the latest plans!
I would like to set up a few dates in early to mid June for beginner whitewater canoe or kayaking classes. If you have wanted to try paddling on moving water this is your chance to learn the skills needed and have fun at the same time! I would like to have at least 3 or 4 for the classes and the cost would be about $50 per person for a group of four. The classes will most likely be on the Kennebec near our office in Caratunk but may be available in other areas near to you if you get a group together. This would also depend on the water levels. Give me a call or send an email if you are interested!
We have 37 new bright red tubes to add to the fleet! I will post some pictures as soon as I get a few inflated for the season!
Thanks for checking out our website, we hope you can join us this season! If you have any questions or would like to discuss your plans please call or email us!

Hi Paddlers!
The fireworks display last night over the Kennebec in West Forks was great! The heavy rain that we had earlier had stopped just in time for the 9pm event. The Kennebec River and all of the streams and small creeks in the area are flowing at springtime levels. We have been running tubing trips all weekend. Everything is inflated and ready to go, give us a call if you would like to make a reservation!

Hi Paddlers!
Welcome to our website!!! We have been working to get the campground cleaned up and ready for the season, there are leaves and tree limbs everywhere! We will be starting to inflate the tube fleet this weekend and also working on the driveway and lawn. Steve will be guiding a group with kayaks on the Kennebec this Saturday.
The water on the Kennebec is warming up early this year due to the abundant sun and lack of rain that we have had this spring. We anticipate the tubing trips to begin on June 21st and continuing through August. Our campground will also be opening for the season on this same day.
